i am a bag whore

Big sis is coming back from Germany and has asked if I want a Longchamp bag as it is a lot cheaper in Europe.

And yes the Longchamp Le pliage line of bags is carried to death in Singapore, evident in the morning human traffic between ORQ and HLH. I see at least one woman clutching the said bag, either plain or with a design almost every morning, and sometimes even two or more! So why in the world am i still contemplating to get this:

WHY?! Dooshite?!? Carried to death by women of all ages? Check. 10 bajillion fakes going around? Check. Conclusion: I must be a bag whore. Plus it is so much cheaper to buy in Europe, it just seems wrong to say no to such a good deal right? Plus it is easy to match, great for a casual day out for coffee or even just to do grocery shopping. Plus mustard is the perfect spring colour and a great way to brighten up yr outfit (not that the 4 seasons is even applicable to Singapore but who cares!)!  And I don't own a mustard colour-ed bag!

wow so 2 measly cons (even if it is carried to death, it all boils down to who is carrying it and how to carry it right? and as for fakes, once again, all boils down to who is carrying it. which effectively means, there is no con! And oh yes, that was shameless self praising btw ha!) So with an overwhelming amount of pros, I should get the bag!

And i also checked out the Kate Moss for Longchamp line of bags.

These 2 are my favourite pictures out of the entire collection. THAT DRESS. OMG. Isn't it super pretty!?!? The colour and cut of the dress and the sleeves!!! I simply adore how the sleeves puff out slightly at the ends. SO PERFECT. Perfect to cover my fatty arms. And i like the bag in the first pic, very boho chic! But absolutely useless to me because i am someone who has to bring 10 million things out to feel secure and that bag looks like it can hardly fit anything into it. And of course check out Kate Moss's legs. Why so slim! Why is the world so unfair! RAH RAH RAH!

My credit bill is in. And i have $500+ of bills to pay -_-||| Maybe i should reconsider getting the bag (but I can pay my sister in instalments.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....)

So should i get it!?!?!?

tell me why do u have to go and make things to complicated

The other day, i saw a pair of Secondary School couple holding hands and whispering sweet nothings to each other. I watch and I wonder, when did the dating game become so complicated as we grow older? What happened to boy finds girl cute and girl finds boy cute and boy chases girl and girl says yes after repeated tries (because we have to play a little hard to get to not come across as "easy") and then boy and girl becomes a couple?

The equation now becomes so much more complicated with so many different variables thrown in that is resembles that damn chemical equation that we can seem to balance no matter how hard we try in chemistry class. Is it because of the looming big M with the ticking of our biological clock that is constantly nagging at us to remind us that there is not enough time?  That we have to be razor focused to pick out the perfect husband, the perfect father-to-be that we can no longer afford to date someone just based purely on that spark of chemistry that could possibly become something. Possibility seems no longer like a romantic notion, the doodling of "mrs xxx" on notebooks with little hearts just look silly and naive. Humorous, charismatic but unstable income? Having charisma may lead to an unfaithful husband. Unstable income may lead to a father who cannot provide. There goes the buzzer.  I wonder the need to fill that huge question mark to complete the perfect family photo has taken the fun out of dating.

To make this post sound less depressing, I have resorted to using Vaseline as my last desperate attempt to grow some eyebrows. No worries as I have done my research and it was recommended by someone who attempted to shape my non-existent brows. This is i think the 3rd day and i am gg to try it for at least one month. Let's pray for a miracle!

the deliciousness continues // We need to talk about Kevin

cheesecakes can only be summed up in one word - YUMMEH. I can totally down one huge slice on my own although i know they are evil deliciousness condense into an innocent creamy looking harmless babies.

The only version of cheesecake that I am not fond of is the Japanese version aka the light and fluffy ones. Who the heck wants to eat a light cheesecake!?!?!?  I say LOAD THE CREAM (and carlories)/ CREAM CHEESE / other fattening stuff that makes the cheesecake DENSE and DELICIOUS. Hail to fattydom!

chokolato keki
Waffles and isu-kurimu
The waffles are crispy on the outside and soft on the outside, just the way i love it. I think this rivals Gelare's version, which is one of my fav waffles ever. But why so expensive! *shake fist* Anyway, the thing that i don't like is the sauce. I HATE FRUITY SAUCE. Why can't they just drizzle chocolate sauce!?!

Group shot!

I think it is another Asian thing (besides the beloved peace sign) to take photos in the toilet. One group of girls gg out = group shot in toilet. I have witnessed maybe 5 million pictures of toilet single/group shots on blogs, FB, etc.

I have recently completed another book by Lionel Shriver titled We need to talk about Kevin. Can I once again proclaim my utmost adoration for her. She is one of the best writers EVER. Seriously. I was blown away. She is so good. Like go-and-buy-her-books-and-read-NOW-RIGHT-NOW-XIANZAI-IMA (japanese for now) good. This book, omg, I totally didn't see the ending coming and just when i was feeling a little bit sorry for Kevin (i was outraged by what he had done to his own sister and yes I srsly believed that he did it!) and then wham! the ending came and I was like okay, you POS. I felt like the air was sucked right out of me, that was how blown away I was.

I still remember how I felt really down after reading her last book "Double fault". When i completed the book, I felt this sense of heaviness, I can't really explain it but that was how affected I was by her writing and I can't shake off that sense of sadness for the protagonist.

And if course how "Perfectly good family" made me smile.

I really wish I could write like her which i know i can't no matter how much i practice. I can only hope that she will keep writing.

happy birthday!

7 years of friendship and still counting, happy birthday my dearest Fiona!

Had loads of fun doing makeup together at my house (to Fiona - 世界上没有丑女人,只有懒女人!stop being so lazy!) And Fiona has allowed me to do MU for her! :D all was well with no tears and definitely no 如花! 都是美女!

And of course the mandatory camwhoring (what did u expect?! it is 4 girls with MU on = death by camwhore)

cuz this is my blog so my picture is big ass in yr face while the rest of my friends get tiny pictures. HAHA! check out my horse like long lashes. Wait that doesn't sound really pretty at all. I mean check out my beautiful long lashes.

Cabbed down to town and on the cab we were talking (and laughing or shrieking would be more apt) so loudly that we kind of pissed the taxi driver off because he was trying to talk on the phone and he could barely hear the other end.I think 4 years of girls school education have strengthened my ability to withstand prolong hours of extreme loudness bombarding my eardrums (think recess time). That just sounded really sad because it seems that the only thing that i took away from 4 yrs of secondary sch education is very strong ear drums. That is not true! I have emerged as a smart and confident woman with a strong interest in Shakespeare works! Et tu Brutus? See i can quote Julius Caesar! HA!

Anyway, I am actually surprise that the teachers there have not become deaf or half deaf at this point! I mean we had only 4 girls in the cab and i think the taxi driver is ready to strangle us, multiply that by 1000 and imagine the level of noise that our poor teachers had to endure.

Dinner @ Sushi Tei! Love the food there as it is affordable and pretty good quality although the sashimi quality isn't as good as Akashi. But then again u pay alot more at Akashi. So yeah, peektures (with some really useless captions!)!

As i was saying earlier, the texture of the sashimi was a little grainy for me. Probably not super fresh *wrinkle nose*

Chuka Wakame! I can scarf down 50 plates of these.

This is what happens when you have 20% off and 4 stomachs of raging acids ready to declare war and devour anything in their paths. GLUTTONY. We ate like a crap load of food! And I think i missed out one more dish!??!And then regret when we hug our expanded stomachs and moan that we have too much food.

But of course, there is always room for desert. ALWAYS.  Gluttony has no limits!! Which means we shall not suffice with 1 but 3 deserts! Even when we have busted our guts we shall continue to trudge down the path of i-am-so-gg-to-regret-the-paaaaiiiin-e93jerijwerikgre (this is where the discomfort from excessive eating have caused the brain to go haywire) because we like to adhere to the strict dietary theory of savoury must always be followed by sweet.  Remember savoury ---> sweet.  But feel free to expand the theory to savoury --> sweet --> savoury. Actually it can be endless as long as your stomach doesn't explode.

I like this theory very much :D

did you just say brinjal?

my crappy phone mysteriously became super low batt although the last time i checked it was 3/4 full. Cracked screen and now out-of-whack battery life. Have to ta-han until September when my contract allows me to change a new phone. FML.
anyways i booted up my phone this morning and i got an SMS from my senior.

hey my house got lotsa brinjal, you want some?

I found that SMS really funny because I was never offered free brinjal in my entire life!

As to how she (or rather her dad) managed to amass ginormous quantities of brinjal, apparently it was found on the roadside by her dad. Probably fell out of the vegetable supplier truck when it was making a turn or something like that.

He brought home 100+(!) (can totally set up a vegetable stall, albeit a very sad one as it will only sell brinjal) brinjals and that was after splitting it FOUR ways with 3 other friends.

All i can say is FTVSL (f* the vegetable supplier's life).

it was a long long ride

I am adding "Getting stuck in a traffic jam in a bus packed like sardines with a super boring book" to my top 10 FML situations. It took me a whole one hour plus plus to get home which is RIDICULOUS. *shakes fist in anger*

Right now i am feeling really sleepy and I am just gg to post photos.

Dress Zara from the kids section. yeah i am shameless like that.

I love owls everything.

Some reads from the library

Terry Goodkind the law of nines
Anita Shreve Testimony

I confess that sometimes I read books that are meant for young adults. They are like my secret guilty pleasures. The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins was pretty good although there were some ppl that claimed that the idea was a rip-off of Battle Royale. I have never read nor watched Battle Royale so I really can't comment on that.  And since we are on the topic of books for young adults, i refuse to read Twilight. And the werewolf guy? Who the heck did the casting!?!?!? I think he looks really weird, kind of freakish looking. And how do i know that? I caught the second movie on the plane out of desperation and sheer boredom (i mean srsly there is nothing you can do on the plane besides eat and sleep) and almost fell asleep ten minutes into the show because it was sooooo boring and unfortunately, the whole ten minutes was something abt the werewolf guy and Bella or was it Edward. BAH! All i remembered was "this guy looks really weird. like animal-ish but ugly". I have my standards when it comes to vampires (ERIC NORTHMAN!).

this mini bottle here set me back by $100+! But the scent. omg it is so good. I spray it like crazy on myself every morning. And the packaging!

yeah you got that something
i think you'll understand
when i say that something

bus drivers are geniuses too

I initially wanted to do a OFTD or rather OFTW post. The pics are all sitting in my memory card and i am currently too darn lazy to edit them because holy smokes I am addicted to (yet) another tv series - Criminal Minds. 15 mins into it and I am hooked!

Speaking of TV series, I deserve the ultimate TV junkie award. I have finished Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girls, The Mentalist, SATC, Desperate Housewives, Weeds, True Blood (CANNOT WAIT FOR SEASON 4. ERIC NORTHMAN I LOVE U CUZ U R HAWT LIKE HELL), White Collar, Veronica Mars. Whatever popular shows I have freaking watched them from Season 1 till whichever Season it is at now which can be dl-ed. On top of that, I have also watched Top Chef, Project Runway (Cried like a baby while watching Season 8. Mondo u rock. I want to wear everything damn thing that you have sent down the runway. Maybe except that polka dot dress which Heidi Klum and Jessica Simpson raved about. For once, I agree with Micheal Kors. Need to show some skin man).

Today's bus ride home, there was a baby that was crying non-stop. From where i alighted all the way to Katong. Half way through, the bus driver stopped the bus and asked the father (bless that poor guy who looked absolutely helpless with the crying baby) to move further back as he was sitting right beside the door. The rationale was it is warmer to sit near the door as the cool air escapes everytime the bus door opens.

And VOILA! the baby stopped crying. It was like magic! And then a bunch of noisy teenagers came up and the baby started crying all over again. But for that few stops it was peace and quiet and the baby looked perfectly happy. Conclusion: Bus drivers are secret geniuses.  Okay, maybe using the word genius is giving them too much credit but hey, if simply changing seats can give me a moment of peace and quiet on the bus, the bus driver is a little genius in my opinion.

Met up with a friend of mine over lunch and found out that she too had joined the singles club for a year! This is what happens when you don't meet yr friends for so damn long. Moaned abt how life is becoming boring and routine i.e. wake up, go to work, go home, rot the weekends away and repeat; bitch abt the pay, bitch abt work and bitch more abt work. Then bitch abt the non-existence of decent men at our workplace.

Current lust: Miu Miu bag charms

Is this super adorable or what? They are priced btw US$115 to US$380. But i went ahead and bought one of them anyway.

NOT.

Funny thing is a lot of ppl seem to have that impression that i spend a lot of money and buy lots of branded stuff when in fact i am pretty tight abt myy money and srsly i don't have that many branded stuff either (1 bag and 2 wallets to date). Maybe it is because i enjoy talking about fashion and high end stuff but knowing does not equal to possessing them! I am just lucky that i have sisters who love branded stuff as much as i do and have bigger earning capacities to allow them to buy these stuff. And to maximize the role as the baby of the family, I simply borrow them.

Anyways that was just suppose to be short post! Sorry abt the word diarrhea.  Have read a couple of great books (yes i do read besides sitting in front of the computer and numbing my brain with crap) and shall do a short post on them soon!

mini haul.x.OFTD

Isn''t the colours absolutely gorgeous (ignore fatty thighs and focus on gorgeous colour. FOCUS!)! The whole colour block thing is driving me crazy! In the end i gave in to temptation and got the poofy pink skirt from Zara (1st pic). Great material very comfy and damn it it is PINK. As much as I have been gravitating towards more neutral tones like grey, black, white, the little girl in me will always squeal in delight when i came across pink stuff. I almost got the white long sleeved top with the blue strip in the centre (and the green shorts as well and well basically everything damn thing in the Zara store) but i must practise restrain! *pats myself on the back*

and now the major FML moment.

In the previous post, there is this great looking blue and grey dress in the Zara new collection. Fab cut, fab colour combi, fab model.  When i saw it in the store, I was so excited to try it on and imagining myself looking just as fabulous as well. Which goes to show i am srsly deluded because....

Not so fab model

Holy crap i look like a potato sack with too much potatoes inside! :(  It would have looked fabulous on someone who is waaaay taller (n skinnier) than me.

And then off to Miss Selfridge (btw, Mango's new collection is CRAP. I feel extremely cheated by the fashion bloggers who helped to advertise Mango's new collection. Hrrrmppphh). And of course MORE photos of myself because i am such a shameless camwhore to fully utilise my new camera which is so expensive (heart pain) and I am not sponsored (double heart pain)! *evil eye at Fiona*.

hello pretty top and my pretty Mulberry bag (in oak)
Love the slightly oversized top! It is going to be a great Friday top when we can sort of dress down and wear more casual stuff. Actually I am casual from Monday to Friday so I may end up wearing it on other days too. Srsly I am so damn casual to the point where when i put on a formal skirt (with just a normal spag top), ppl actually take notice and be like "Wah are you going for a meeting or something?". No one bats an eyelid when i turn up in something casual because they are so used to it. -_-|||

Oh and another FML moment in the office today. The department secretary sent out an updated directory of our department (because we are having ppl leaving, changing departments and new ppl coming in). So I was scrolling through the list of ppl and then I saw this name which was completely unfamiliar to me. I stood up and called out to my senior sitting diagonally in front of me.

Me: PX! Our department just hired another new senior?

PX: *Confused look*

Me: *Sudden enlightenment* Oh the new senior is her! *points to the new senior sitting in front of PX*

PX: Eh she is like here for 2 weeks already and you don't know her name!

Me dies fr embarrassment.

I am not sure if the new person did hear our conversation but I am sorry because I seem to be having a pretty bad memory nowadays! Throw in being anti-social, can't blame me for not remembering her name right! (Actually I don't even know what is her name, well until today that is. Haven spoke to her yet. I vaguely remember being introduced to her but her name totally didn't register!) But it is okay since she is only here for 2 weeks. I have some associates that are here for like 8 months and i haven even spoke a single word to them yet. -_-|||

And today's spinning class was boooorrrriiinngggg. I was so looking forward to it because it was my fav instructor (he is so cute!!) and he only has ONE pathetic evening class at PW so can you imagine my crushing disappointment when I saw another spinning instructor instead. Why oh why must you take leave among all days!! Take Wednesday, take Friday, take every day but Tuesday!

At least Terry Goodkind's (not so) new book, Laws of Nine is faaantastic. Plus a new book coming out which is a continuance of the Sword of Truth series! WOOOHOO! *throws confetti in the air and jiggly dance*
